Emma Pearson (Relieving Principal), Casey Frend (Assistant Principal) and Sarah Stewart (Assistant Principal) discuss how Hero supports complex student needs and connects families to their child’s learning at G.S. Kidd Memorial School.
Watch (3:52 mins):
Connecting through what matters
At G.S. Kidd Memorial School, many students do not use speech as their primary form of communication. This means families may not always hear about the moments of learning, pride, or progress that happen during the school day.
Using Hero, teachers can share visual updates that give parents a clear window into what their child is doing, learning and achieving.
“We're celebrating where your child is at.”
Hero allows staff to capture important moments of growth that may not always be visible through traditional work samples or reports. Photos and videos provide meaningful evidence of new skills, confidence and progress over time, helping families see where their child started and how far they have come.
"Having that capacity to send photos or videos every day, parents actually know what's happening and they feel involved. That has been the biggest positive shift for us."
- Emma Pearson, Relieving Principal
At the same time, the platform streamlines student plans, health information and school data, reducing workload for staff and making it easier to respond quickly to student needs. The result is a system that keeps learning, communication and student wellbeing at the centre.
