Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about Hero, the all-in-one school management platform used by 1000+ schools across New Zealand and beyond.
How much does Hero cost?
Hero is priced per student, per year. Smaller schools (under 200 students) are covered by a flat-rate package tailored to suit their size.
Hero brings together everything New Zealand schools often run across multiple separate tools - learning, reporting, student management, administration, finance, communication, and more - into a complete school management system. It works hard across your whole school, so your team spends less time on admin and more time on the things that count.

What is included in my Hero subscription?
Your Hero subscription includes our full student management platform: curriculum toolkit, reporting, school administration, student billing, communication tools, school interview bookings, and calendar and excursions management. Everything your school needs, in one place.
Also included is access to our lightning-fast helpdesk team, plus a comprehensive library of help articles, videos and user guides so your staff can build confidence at their own pace.
Plus, as the first New Zealand SMS to gain the internationally recognised Safer Technologies 4 Schools (ST4S) badge, Hero schools have peace of mind knowing their data is safe and secure.
What tools and systems can Hero replace?
Hero is designed to be your school's single platform, replacing the separate tools many schools rely on to manage daily operations.
Depending on your current setup, Hero can replace your:
- Student management system

Who founded Hero, and what's the background of the team?
Hero was founded by Paul Sibson and Aimie Sibson, a New Zealand primary school principal and secondary teacher, who couldn't find the system schools needed, so they built it themselves.
It began with a lightbulb moment: that bringing together all aspects of school life into one place would make things better for teachers, students, and their families. What followed were many late nights of a principal learning to code, leading a school by day and quietly building a better way forward by night.
Today, Hero is headquartered in Ōtautahi Christchurch and trusted by 1,000+ schools across New Zealand and beyond, with Paul and Aimie still at the helm. Our team is made up of former teachers, school leaders, administrators, and people who have spent their careers in and around education - including a school librarian, RTLB, caretaker and ESOL specialist.
