Mark Stephens, Principal at Currabubula Public School, New South Wales, was seeking a solution to streamline data management and enhance communication with their school community. He found it in Hero.
The ability to consolidate multiple systems and apps into one, accessible platform was a game-changer for Currabubula PS.
“It helped to align a lot of the things that we were doing within the school, it helped us to consolidate a lot of the platforms that we were using,” Mark explains. “When I first saw Hero, I liked the way in which it titles your data sets in and relates everything back to students.”
Hero builds a clear and comprehensive overview of the whole student, allowing staff to make more informed teaching and learning decisions.
Mark is particularly enthusiastic about Hero’s role in enhancing communication with parents. “It's going to provide parents with more regular updates about what their child's doing in the classroom. But not just what's happening at school, what's actually happening for their child in terms of that learning progression,” he says.
This increased transparency leads to a more engaged and informed parent community, where families are able to closely support their child’s learning.
Through Hero, students can set learning goals and share their learning with teachers and families, equipping them with skills to take responsibility for their learning. This is an aspect of Hero which Currabubula PS are actively leveraging to empower their students.
“We've got a focus within our school around building student agency. We want students to have more of a voice and we want them to be able to have greater ownership over curating their learning. So, why not provide them with a platform that gives them that opportunity?” Mark explains.
Mark believes that Hero’s customisability is a key differentiator.
“A number of other products that we've had in here previously, have had set processes that this is the way that we do things. Whereas I've now had the opportunity, with Hero, to have a product that we can customise, and what it's allowed us to do is evaluate, review and refine all the systems we have in place at school.” he says.
The flexibility of Hero’s Power Ups have enabled Currabubula PS to tailor Hero to their specific needs and workflows, maximising its impact.
Currabubula PS has embarked on an exciting journey with Hero, a journey that promises to transform the way the school operates and supports its students. As Mark and his team continue to explore the full potential of Hero, they are confident in the positive impact it will have on their school community – streamlining processes, enhancing communication, and empowering students.
